This popped up on my random playlist and I enjoyed it a lot. The album is patchy, to say the least, but this track is stellar.

It's funny how things pop into your head. I was talking with a mate about something at work, and he started a sentence with "I can remember...", and the little music nerd in the back of my mind started playing this song while the rest of my brain tried to focus on what he was saying.
Kickass tune.

I love Numero Uno's Light: On the South Side compilation of Chicago gems, and this track by Willie Davis makes me smile every time. For most of its length it's a smoky blues ballad, lots of slow feel and groove, but then suddenly at the 2:47 mark Willie suddenly launches into this amazing, face-melting solo that lasts only about 20 seconds and then just disappears, leaving you thinking "Holy crap - what the hell was that?! Did i actually hear that?! Talk about impact.

I recently sold my 12" of the Wild Swans' only release, Revolutionary Spirit, and nostalgically play-tested it before sending it off: I'd completely forgotten what a lovely slice of early Eighties guitar pop was the b-side, God Forbid

I was so impressed with that 12 inch when it came out. Such a shame they never really delivered on it.

I knew this guy had done some earlier things with the Harvard Lampoon, and later with National Lampoon and Sesame Street (not to mention Free To Be... You And Me) (his Wiki page is pretty impressive), but I never knew about this before now. Produced by Alan "Boston Sound" Lorber.

Man, don't you love it when a great song you haven't heard in donkey's years jumps into your brain suddenly, or pops up out of nowhere on like a playlist shuffle?
Well, Ronnie Dawson's 'Up Jumped the Devil' did that for me today, and i've been playing it all afternoon. Got my bones rockin', that's for sure.
