Gone 40 years. As long as he was here.
What’s YOUR Lennon song? Not his “best” or “most impactful” or even your “favorite”. Just which song feels like your secret connection to the guy, if any.
Mine...

EDIT: I feel I should add something, as I'm sure some will assume I'm taking the piss with this choice. I'm not. So much of what the man (and his band) had to give the world is telegraphed in that 20 seconds: a genuine love and fellowship (though not above piss-taking) between four unique individuals that was so powerful and so irresistible and so contagious that it soon became a global pandemic. We could use more of that sort.

Strawberry Fields Forever. I love the line "No one I think is in my tree".

The problem with Lennon was that he used 'Julia' as the template for his solo career when he should have chosen 'I Am The Walrus'.

I see what you're saying but if he'd done that we'd have had TWO ELOs

Probably 'cheating', but I have to post this:
I'm halfway through it - not sure why I've never heard it before. I think I might have read a transcript and I've certainly heard extracts.
I always thought that 'it's such a shame because he'd finally found true happiness' was journo-speak bullshit in the wake of his death, but no, it's very evident here - the man is voluble, funny, he really goes to town with his reminiscing, he's relaxed and charming and he's enjoying the experience. You asked for a 'connection' - this is it here, because he reminds me of myself a bit - the way he talks, the things he laughs at.
