i only actively post here, but am still a member on a couple of others which i no longer post on.
i was a member of a West Ham forum up until a few months ago, but received a ban.

Four currently - Here, BCB, Glassmessages (a specialist forum about glass), 20thcenturyforum ( design generally, but mainly ceramics/pottery).
Is it to chat shit in general?
Yeah with here, which has largely replaced BCB in that regard. The latter two I use to find out more about pieces I have or sometimes to help others identify pieces they have.
Which one have you been on the longest?
BCB since 2004.
Have you made many proper friends over all of them?
Yes with regard to BCB, although it's ebbed and flowed a bit over the years. I do want to reconnect with several BCBers over the next year. There are people on here I consider friends, even though I've not met some of them face to face.

How many message boards are you a member of? - Close to ten altogether. I'm active on three boards - this one, CaB, and The Fall forum, but I'm a member of another handful of boards which I rarely or never post on (BCB, PunkForums, Digital Spy, TEFL Net)
Is it to chat shit in general? - I don't really know what this means. I don't take any of them TOO seriously, so yeah, it's mostly just to mess around - but sometimes you can get caught up in deep discussion and that can be worthwhile. And you LEARN things!
Niched boards, music, film, pottery etc? - all music related apart from the aforementioned TEFL board
Which one have you been on the longest? - actually I joined the Fall forum in June 2004, just a few months before BCB
Have you made many proper friends over all of them? - have met quite a few BCBers, and consider some folk from the other boards friends too, so....yes, more or less

Can you be friends with someone you've never met? Why not? I don't know. That's why I'm asking. I mean, there are different levels of friendship aren't there. I wouldn't call anyone on here a "friend" - that requires a level of interaction, knowledge and the layering of physical meetings that create what one might term a friendship. I mean, you can know someone online and talk to them digitally, but there's a certain physical chemistry that you get with someone you might call a friend that, to me, pushes a digital acquaintance into an actual friendship. But then, that's just my interpretation. |
