Thanks Casey, don't you need to comb your toupee about now? blind men describing sand sometimes need to touch water to expand their argument { Two things that became apparent, (1) whilst Zep, Sabbath, Tull, Yes, etc., were conquering the 1st world it allowed home to have Quo, Slade, even Purple, who all did well in the absence of the first tier (2) all the dominant soul/reggae artists(EWF had a phenomenal'78 -'81) were from the US, other than Marley}.

There's no connection between Yes and Slade or their audience, so where Yes were touring is totally irrelevant.

The US couldn't handle Slade. I think the spelling of their songs was a little too sophisticated for the colonials.

Did you know that in France in 1978 the best-selling artist was Rolf Harris? I hope he was popular enough that this was described as "Rolf-Mania".

Slade did well initially in the US with the large Anglophilia audience, but failed miserably when they put on relentless tours with hard rock acts like Lizzy, UFO, Foghat, Nazareth, etc., two different crowds. They maybe could have gone for AM radio Top 40 hit singles like BTO was doing at the time, and doing their own tours.
