Yes, I was mostly wondering if GB was skeptical of the science behind that as well. I thought the science was that the polar vortex was at the right temperature at the right time? The banning helped but it can still naturally form once a year. You've got it the wrong way around. It's caused by man-made chemicals, but exacerbated by weather conditions. It is not a "naturally occurring" phenomenon.

It was the size of that hole that raised the issues.

You're saying there's always been a hole in the ozone layer?

You're saying there's always been a hole in the ozone layer? I haven't googled it but I thought that at certain times during the year there is a hole and the size is increased by human activity making it larger than usual and that it alters at other times of the year due to the vortex.

Today's concerns over the environment sure do cause strange problems. How, for instance do I re cycle my coal not dole button badges?

I thought Greta was very good today. Maybe we old-timers have to move over and let the kids - they know where it’s at - take control.

Why are we listening to children who haven't even got their A-Levels in Chemistry and Biology? May as well give them the nuclear codes as well. China must be laughing at how decadent we have become........ Madness.

I'd prefer us to talk about the actual environment and how we as part of nature interact with it.... This movement seems rooted in high taxes and depriving the populace of basic necessities.... Where are the big marches against the water companies that have been allowed to pollute our rivers, lakes and estuaries??? Where are the marches against the relentless eradication of greenbelt so that cheap and badly built houses can be erected??? Us humans were at one time part of nature and we have become so far removed from it that we now focus on issues we cannot change in regards to nature while neglecting the more tangible problems that we possibly could resolve.

Whenever people gather for an important issue others always reliably point out all the other important issues. You gotta start somewhere.

Whenever people gather for an important issue others always reliably point out all the other important issues. You gotta start somewhere. But this isn't the start of the movement this is the corrupted end where politicians and billionaires lecture the working and middle classes while flying in on their private jets that use "sustainable fuel" (yeah sure pal). The discussion about humans impact on nature has been going on for a quite a few decades but now it has manifested itself with an obsession consisting of controlling the weather and temperature of the planet. As I observed above worse still is the fact that us humans no longer see ourselves being part of nature but as some sort of antagonist pitted against it; this doesn't surprise me since most of us live lives far away from nature and its challenges. I'll finish on this only in the 21st century, which is slowly morphing into the century of absurdity, could an ecological movement consist of people wearing blue disposable masks that CANNOT be recycled cheered on by overweight politicians who grant tax breaks to businesses that are built around gas guzzling vans delivering pointless products direct to the customers door. The hypocrisy is enough to make me pray an asteroid hits us first.
