1. We were ending at 2020.. 2. I'll try to put up my contenders for the remaining years as soon as possible, so as to give you some other options outside of freaking BabyMetal 1 Carry on, E. Post was more or less my saying I'm out of here in a typically recherche way...
2. Well, I really like Babymetal . But on a wider point I can't give something that I haven't heard (or don't remember hearing) before canonical status, no matter how much I liked it. I've listened to very little contemporary music in the last ten years; my only access to it is links published on music forums, and while I've liked a fair amount that I've heard, very few have stuck with me, and even they certainly haven't been wedded to any particular year the way that things I heard in my teens through my thirties were.
I'll probably not bother for these last few years, although I must go back and fill in the gaps from my yoof, when I was overwhelmed by a plethora of worthy contenders rather than having to scrabble around in a darkling attic searching for them.

Eliza Carthy - The Fitter's Song
About time to bring an artist that has been a fave of mine since I discovered her (quite late, I must admit)

Yes I know everyone is busy, as am I, but what I thought I'd do was open it up until 2019, which I think would be a suitable place to end it seeing as that was the year Preludin sprang into being (5th birthday miseryup scheduled for 4 January), and then perhaps start to implement G's as far as I know not entirely formed plans as to what to do with the results. So end of December is a half-hearted deadline, then. People positively inclined to 2020 voting, just lob them in regardless . woah..hold on a minute. We have said we are going up to 2020, so let's stick with that. We can probably get the next few years done pretty quickly as there'll only be a few nominators. In terms of what I plan to do with the results, I've already said there will be a discussion thread dedicated to each year. Hope to start those in the new year.

Blimey, quiet day on here, I've been busy at work and not even been able to check out the 4 Liverpool tracks yet. But I shall cheer everyone up with my 2017 choice. I've picked the short and snappy one, but it could've been anything from this.
As with Moor Mother, I think I was on the Lingua Ignota bandwagon before there was one, certainly before the album was available in physical form. The kind of thing to listen to when you think Diamanda Galas is getting a bit close to lounge music for your liking, a concept album about domestic abuse that fully assaults the listener, while providing some moments of absolute stunning beauty.

Do we need to have a discussion on each year? I thought you were.
It would have been preferable if the discussion points arose from posters discussing some of these choices in the music discussion section. This excruciating thread and it's offshoots are merely lists for the sake of it. There is no real discussion, it is information overload and serves no real purpose. Write a list and then discuss the list. That can be achieved in a week over two posts. As it is , it truly seems as if this exercise is going to be never ending. So many people on here write enthusiastically about what they love and the merits of particular artists. This is a banger from 1999 , so is this, here is another from 2000, yada, yada.

The threads will not be asking for more lists but will be designed to provoke discussion and I'm hoping they're going to be pretty interesting. If they're still not to your tastes, you can just ignore them and contribute to the threads that you do like.

All i am saying is that you are creating a situation, format and idea. It's called the music section and we have one.
I fail to see why , if any of the tracks are worthy of discussion then why do we have to grade them, catalogue them and post them and then discuss them. It has seen most participants openly admitting they are struggling to find tracks.
If i don't like something i mention it, you for instance are famous for it. I enjoy reading and talking about music. I also enjoy other people's insights and observations. As i say I feel that format already exists.

Do we need to have a discussion on each year? I'm certainly looking forward to it, however necessary (or not). There were more than a few years as we were going along where I watched the sort of "complimentary friction" between songs nominated (and passed over) and thought "This is something to look forward to hashing out en masse".

'I fail to see why , if any of the tracks are worthy of discussion then why do we have to grade them, catalogue them and post them and then discuss them'.
This makes no sense to me at all, sorry.
The follow up threads won't be the same as the canon threads. But if you don't like them, don't participate. There's other threads for you.

2017
Looking over the year I discovered there were quite a few gems from 2017 that I had forgotten about thanks to my commitment to posting the KGLW track that got me into them in the first place, but it was only ever going to be this:
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Rattlesnake

There would be more if we used them as a platform for discussion, as it is, they don't. If they will in the future, why couldn't they be that in the first place?
We have umwieldy lists, omissions and zero discussion. Although this is to be begun only on completion of a process getting weaker and participated by fewer ,week by week. So , one would assume that the discussions, should they actually materialise , will somehow gain traction because they are part of the Canon. So , another disection, posting and repeating of you tube clips to be presented to us again, in what form and by whom as of yet unknown.
I will choose what i look at,engage and enjoy. Thanks for offering me a choice, real nice of you.

Are you claiming you don't understand, agree or you asking me to believe you have the understanding of a four year old ? You don't need to create endless lists and zero discussion formats , just so you can create a format for discussion. That's what the music forum is for. Is that helping you make sense of what I am saying ?
