Get your nominations in for 2020 if you want too. I'll leave this thread open, along with the 'wild card' thread, until the New Year. There doesn't seem to much point doing too much over Christmas, and then we'll start the yearly threads at the end of the month.

Well, that's the obvious Moor Mother track gone. Not sure if I should pick another from the same album. Lucrecia Dalt is absolutely top drawer, too, even if you haven't picked a toe-tapper.

Weyes Blood - Andromeda
Absolutely hooked on this record since I first heard it. Great singing, gorgeous melodies and brilliant production.

Fiona Apple - Rack of His
And for the most recent input, I pick Fiona Apple again. Of those I've heard from 2020 (admitedly not that many) this is the one that I see most deserving to be cathegorized as a keeper.

I thought for certain that I would choose something off the Purple Mountains lp, but I'm hoping someone else will because I want to pick this great tune from my pal Rick White and his collaborator Eiyn Sof. Good, trippy, old-fashioned space rock:

I was very tempted to add in more Moor Mother via Zonal's Wrecked album, but KOKOKO!'s Tongos'a is the track of the year for me. A slinky, sinewous thing which shows just how great modern African music can be, especially when it borrows from synth-punk and no wave influences. It seemed like African music was going to really burst through into the mainstream around this time, but it's all gone very quiet, none of those exciting acts have followed up on their debuts.

I think I knew I was going to pick something from this album, but had a hard time deciding which tune. 'Processed By The Boys' and 'June 21' are equally worthy of inclusion, but I think ultimately I like the punchiness of this one:

Bloody hell, I own practically nothing from 2020, what happened that year? Rather than opt for a decent track from a pretty poor Neubauten album, I'll head over to Africa again, and drink some of Duma's Lionsblood. Someone on Nyege Nyege Tapes doing grindcore without guitars was always going to pique my interest, and Duma properly delivered
