Great singer, G. Just couldn't get his career going further in terms of nationwide fame after the brilliant 'Oo Wee Baby' on Vee-Jay, one of my favourite mid-60s soul singles, but as you say he made some great singles on Brunswick as well as Exodus, a short-lived Vee-Jay spinoff. Here's one i love, 'I Keep Tryin''...

Overshadowed by the Moonglows and Flamingos, The Dells were good value for their third place. They would be back in the ’60s and ’70s as a harder-edged R&B vocal group, but this sound from 1956 was their peak as a doo-wop band
