I would like to ask everyone posting here, hopefully without rancor or bias, who would have an easier time of it (whether physically or socially): a male transitioning to female competing in women's sports, or a female transitioning to male competing in men's sports? And why. Men transitioning to women would tend to have an advantage I think that is unfair

And why. Men transitioning to women would tend to have an advantage I think that is unfair Physically, I suspect that at least in physical activity that requires upper body strength (which is most sports activity) the first sentence is categorically true. The second sentence is a matter of opinion, but in my opinion it's more sexist to deny the physical reality than it is anti-trans to acknowledge it. The social aspect is a different story; I assume either/any would face resistance from some quarters, but would have an easier time of it than they might have before it became more common. All I have to go on is with sports that are statistics-driven, there is not a single category I can think of where females outperform males overall. I am not playing 'devil's advocate' in saying this - at least it's not my intent - but I do think it's important to acknowledge that the argument that it's more unfair to those born female than it is to those born male - is not completely unfounded.

do you suppose we'll ever see a day when we worry a fraction as much about Trans women being STOMPED as we do about them cheating at sports???

This whole thing is comical. Suddenly everyone cares about women’s sports. Usually they are ignored and/or sneered at. But now they are a crucial part of our very culture.
So fucking (excuse the pun) transparent.

A bunch of males making decisions for women's sport doesn't seem right either. There are no female voices on this forum presently or in this discussion. What we say matters to a point, but does not affect us. Those affected have a voice and a choice. There may also be suspicion for males speaking for other males transitioning. It's delicate. It can look very heavy handed and monolithic, otherwise.

All true, just trying to acknowledge that in the interest of inclusion, there are a variety of perspectives that have a voice at the table. Whose voice should be the loudest as affects the trans community? I'm thinking trans people.
Of course I also suspect that trans people aren't of one united voice either.

Also in the sports issue, there might be some collateral effects for the whole society. Imagine a world where most records in things like athletics or swimming are held by trans women. Couldn't that have a discouraging effect for girls to practice sport? Not holding an opinion, just bringing another perspective for discussion.

The British triathlon last month had an open category, and a category for people who were female at birth. I expect most sports will follow suit. Doesn't seem a controversial thing to do.

We are all the same sex underneath it all. These differences are merely superficial.
Yes we are really all the same

That's individual sports though, no one can get really hurt. What about physical contact sports like rugby or MMA.
