Once again Dougie that desire to punch the Gaelic bag arises. They don't even try and hide it these days. regardless, we will always have the Scottish enlightenment, Billy Connolly, The Dandy and The Broons, Jimmy Johnstone and The Associates. Our place in the cultural elite is assured. Wha's like us? Nae cunt. Name a place Scottish Presbyterians have appeared and not fucked up...

Name a place Scottish Presbyterians have appeared and not fucked up... American political influence ? Lots of Scottish Presbyterians in that American influence particularly the open and gentle minded South and Appalachia. Plus size comparison wise the Church and US are bigger, yet the the SP have shaped some comparable messes.

Within 100 years, Britain went from a thriving and bustling territory with cities and Roman Villas to feudal warlords who couldn't fix the plumbing and remodeling on their crumbling villas because there was no one around who knew how to fix things, even the locals who had grown up under Roman rule. Coinage had disappeared and cities were abandoned.
And when major buildings started to be built after the Roman withdrawl they often took the stones staight from the Roman ruins. The original Hexham Abbey used stones ramsacked from Hadrian's Wall.

It's funny. I'm listening to a good podcast on the Fall of the Roman Empire and the last episode was about Briton and Rome because the speaker and author, Patrick Wyman, feels it epitomized Romes' breakdown better than any territory. Kinda like Brexit. Fuck the Romans. The Ancient Celts were much better; They had mysticism, poetry and great jewellery. Things went downhill when the Romans arrived.
Original Anglo Saxon jewelry can be staggeringly ornate and beautiful. I've wondered if it was something new or part of an older revival in Britain. Maybe more so in the north of the island with the influence of Celtic Christianity.

Not forgetting the failed invasion of Argentina in 78.King James rewriting the Bible after five days on the pish was a bad idea I guess but the swally always went straight to his heid. The napper rebellion and forcing Britons to shit in a pail after the Romans left leaves me feeling that the Scottish nation has more than Presbyterian Americans to feel shameful about. Point taken.

That and the fact there are not vast groups of 70+ year olds that need to long hours in Amazon warehouses at$10/hour because social wellfare is practically absent. Social Security does exist for 70+, and earlier if needed. I don't think there are many seniors that are hustling to work in Amazon warehouses. We also don't have the taxation that exists in social welfare states of which many of the Trump voters who would be beneficiaries would also balk at paying for, double bind. I suggest you read this. www.bol.com/nl/p/nomadland/9200000089322467/?referrer=socialshare_pdp_www

Is "Americana" another word for US culture? More like American folk art and folk music.
