I am smoking a pipe and having eggs Benedict for breakfast on the veranda. In my Hermes dressing gown and waiting for my Corby trouser press to do it's stuff.

middle upper lower
I remember reading a white paper that stated the US middle class was 2x the UK total population and that India's middle class was the size of the total US population.

Working class is more divided than middle, imo. I'm not blue collar but it would be ridiculous for me to say I'm middle.

I am living a working class life (I do a blue collar job now) but my background is very much upper asshole.......
Probably explains my politics......
My theory is that the class war has become even more bitter since the end of national service.....
I also post on a music message board in 2021 so let's be honest that right away makes me WEIRD!!!!

i think i'm probably the only working class poster on here. As a teacher, usually that would mean white collar, which would mean middle class, particularly in an EU situation.

I suppose I'm firmly middle-class, but I'm unsure if I tick all the right boxes or not.

There's class of origin, related to your parent's job, and current class, related to your job. If skope wants to claim he's w/c in origin and background, then so am I. As an adult, I've variously moved between all class levels except upper upper and now as a nearly ten years retired person I'm out of the loop entirely, which is why I haven't voted.

I suppose I'm firmly middle-class, but I'm unsure if I tick all the right boxes or not. Does Canada, particularly the English speaking part adhere to the British class identity, the more laissez faire US definitions, or its own unique interpretation? Would it be different in the French areas?

I'd say it's closer to the US version. Our politicians love to talk about how hard they're working to keep middle-classes happy, which is something I hear a lot from the States as well. Maybe the Brits talk up the middle-classes as well, I dunno.
Regardless, we don't really have strong class system here like they do in the UK - there's no sense of "knowing ones place" at all, thankfully. I don't think it's much different in French Canada, but Souphound could probably speak to that better than I can.
