The Killing of Malcolm X on Netflix. Part political history, part crime investigation, I found this absolutely compelling and very timely with everything that's happening now. I had no idea that innocent people had been convicted for his killing.

My son and I have started re-watching the West Wing. I had forgotten how childish the characters are and how generally obsequious they are to Martin Sheen's president character.

I'm far from a hippity hop fan but this was interesting to watch. I genuinely didn't know they were that big worldwide. The doc is a classic tale of friends starting something amazing then money and fame getting in the way. There's 4 episodes and i have one left to watch.

somebody begged me to watch the first season of "Umbrella Academy" with them. I did and I enjoyed it. they won't need to beg me to watch season two. more dysfunctional super hero horseshit but just different enough to make well worn things seem pretty fresh. one of the time travelling hit men is always talking about the corporation whittling away at what little perks their employees used to get. easy to relate.
I'm almost through season one of "Killing Eve". People yakked about it when it was new a couple of years ago. I'm a sucker for those "cat and mouse" type things. the cat and the mouse seem a little more fascinated with each other than usual. this is outstanding episodic television. pretty unpredictable.
I watched two episodes of "what we do in the shadows" before I learned it was a movie. maybe I'll just ignore that and keep going. it's like a reality TV crew is following around a gaggle of Vampires. funny and offbeat. the vampires go to a couple of City Council meetings to make demands on the community. the most common type of vampire, we are told, is "the energy vampire" one of these is a main character. I'll bet you feel like you know at least one energy vampire after you watch it.

Probably years behind everyone else on this, but really enjoying the first season so far. Doesn't seem like something that needs a second, third, fourth or fifth season though. Why rebrand it as the terminally dull "Money Heist" in English?

Absolutely brilliant, tension and drama are perfectly fused with good tempo. For me growing up the nazi germany was however million people and it's military were all thinking as one and evil. The different levels of trying to somewhat humanize the specific nazi's involved in this story is well done. One of the main themes in terms of this is some of the main characters want to win the war/gather up the jews but sooner rather than later disagree with the methods as being too extreme. Things like a german u-boat capatain blows up an american ship he thinks is a cargo ship. It's a ship that has woman and children on it. Even though they're US, he still feels bad about the the women and children. However the show never lets you forget that certain characters are bad cunts at the base of it no matter if this disagree with Hitler's method. Then there's the foot solders that just want to get home alive first and foremost, and have certain family priorities that are more important to them than the war. Youse should check it out.

I remember they put out just one vinyl record as a release and that asshole pharmaceutical guy, Martin Shkreli, bought it for a million bucks.

They could have gone for Spanish Castle Magic..

I've been really enjoying the second season of My Brilliant Friend. I loved the books and the TV series hasn't disappointed. The actors, all of them, are well cast. The evocation of 50s and 60s Naples is very convincing (not that I'd know!).
